July Summer Camps at The Maile School


The Maile School offers a variety of summer camps. All though our June camps are all full we still have openings for July.

All of the camps at The Maile School are hands on and focus on confidence and self-esteem building. There are many to choose from and we have camps for all ages starting at the age of 4.

The On Camera Acting camp trains in a variety of techniques such as commercials, TV, slating, improv, auditioning and interviewing. All students work on camera.

The Image & Confidence camp is all about life skills and self-development. This covers skin care, make up, hair care, posture, beginning runway, etiquette, public speaking, communication skills, interviewing and body language.

Our Modeling is the Mall at Millenia fashion camp and is held exclusively at The Mall at Millenia. All students train in modeling and lean about the industry. Covering runway, fashion shows, TV modeling, and etiquette. All students experience a professional photo shoot and walk the runway in a real fashion show and model in the Mall at Millenia’s back to school fashion show. The morning session is full but we still have opening in 1pm to 3pm and 3:30pm to 5:30pm.

All industry programs include our Professional Industry Seminar for all parents on breaking into the business. This covers headshots, resumes, getting an agent, contracts, casting directors, booking jobs, plus so much more.

The Maile Image, Modeling and Acting School has been working with students and training talent since 1982. We have produced many successful graduates such as Brandon Larracuente from 13 Reasons Why, Mandy Moore from the NBC hit show This is Us, Jack Griffo from Nickelodeons The Thundermans as Max Thunderman, Norm Lewis from Broadway as Phantom in Phantom of the Opera and Michael Campion as Jackson on the Netflix series Fuller House.

Mall at Millenia Summer Fashion Camp

The Maile Image, Modeling & Acting School and The Mall at Millenia are teaming up again for their annual Summer Fashion Modeling camp.

Now on its 13th year the fashion camp is held exclusively at The Mall at Millenia and presented by experts from The Maile School.

All students train in modeling and learn about the exciting modeling industry. This hands on camp program covers posture, poise, runway, fashion shows, TV modeling, auditioning, photo posing, interviewing and etiquette.

All students experience a professional photo shoot with an industry photographer and walk the runway in a real fashion show and model in the Mall at Millenia’s back to school fashion show.

Many mall merchants such as Bloomingdales, Buckle, GAP, Macys, and Lilly Pulitzer to name a few will showcase their new merchandise and trends for the season.

There are two back to school fashion shows at Grand Court on Saturday, August 5th and show times are 1pm to 3pm.

Fashion Camp dates are July 17th through July 27th Monday through Thursday of both weeks. Ages 10 to 18 years 1pm to 3pm and 3:30pm to 5:30pm.

Check out our 1 Day Summer Fun Friday Improvisation workshop on next Friday, June 16th from 10am to 2pm.

Improvisation is the art of composing, uttering, executing or arranging anything without previous preparation, in the moment.

Learning Improv and Improvisational games can be a very useful tool in your acting, auditioning, public speaking or as a means of overcoming shyness.

Improv is fun!  Improv is exciting!  And improv is the subject of the next big workshop at The Maile School!

Taught by the Maile School’s own Jim Braswell, who studied at the Sak Comedy Lab with and under Whose Line’s Wayne Brady.  Jim’s 20+ years in the Entertainment Industry includes being a member of the Disney Comedy Troupe; Streetmosphere/Citizen of Hollywood and as an Audience Warm Up for various Disney Attractions and television shows taped at Disney.

Jim welcomes the chance to help you find your “funny ”!  Let’s tap into those creative juices and see what flows.  And if you walk away having learned very little you won’t walk away not having fun!  This hands on workshop promises to be fun and exciting for beginners or intermediates.

Maile School STAR TALENT: Justin Martinez

Maile School STAR TALENT: Justin Martinez

Maile School teen acting grad Justin Martinez is a 17-year-old, St. Cloud, Florida native that is currently a sophomore at Harmony High School.

His dad James says, “Justin always liked to perform in front of us and we decided to do something about and enrolled him at The Maile Acting School where he learned the many aspects of the film industry as well as on camera acting, improv and character development.”

Justin can be seen in Diary of a Wimpy Kid and has just finished filming co-starring roles in two pilot’s series: Ruff Creek Feud and the new AMAZON drama TV series The Enhanced.  Justin plays the role of Angel. The series Enhanced is about a career mother Angela Bryant played by Traci Newman tries to figure out what’s going on with her sweet son Lucas as he exhibits unusual and strange behavior. What she doesn’t know is that he’s coming into a new ability as a result of tests she allowed to be done to him as a newborn. Lucas looks for answers about his new ability and soon finds a young girl named Salina Woods who can help him find out the truth about what’s happening to him. Lucas learns that she is like him, and there are more of them.

Justin also appeared in a short film titled Gwen that has received awards and recognition internationally. He has also booked work in 3 other short films, Slash R Treat, Dead Con and Hustler: The Series. His commercial experience includes Overbytes (an orthodontist commercial) and Bob Poe for Congress. This handsome teen also models and has modeled for the Ice Model Showcase that was held in Miami and last year’s Madelline’s runway fashion show here in Orlando.  Justin was also featured in Orlando Talent Magazine and is represented by a few local agencies.

His hobbies include basketball, video games, football and of course watching and studying movies. He is always looking to improve his talents and also is currently working on more projects as of this writing.

Maile School Star Talent: Bernita Harris

Maile School acting graduate Bernita Harris worked for Orange County Public Schools for 18 years as a staffing specialist and working in the classroom with students. Then last year she decided it was time for a cha nge.
A career change happened. Bernita has landed roles in Tyler Perry’s The Haves and The Have Nots and BET hit show The Quad both in which are filmed in Atlanta. As well as Daytime Divas and Greenleaf playing the role of a church staff member.
Her local work here includes ABC’s popular series Blackish and commercials for Disney and The Lion King.
Not bad for booking all this in a year and now her resume is very impressive. She graduated from Bethune Cookman College with a degree in Political Science and has a Masters from Nova University. She worked in the school system with middle and high schools helping students with disabilities.

Bernita says, “I absolutely love it here at The Maile School. I don’t want to be popular I want to be purposeful. The Maile School brought out the best in me.” Bernita attended the adult on camera acting program as well as the John Peros Casting workshop here at The Maile School.

Be on the look out for Bernita this season on The Haves and the Have Nots. This is an American prime time television soap opera created, executive produced, written, and directed by Tyler Perry. Season five will premiere June 20th.

Meet The Maile Schools Adult Acting Instructors

Breaking into the business at The Maile School and enroll in our Adult On Camera Acting Program. Train with our industry professionals.


Meet Stephanie Bowen who began her career in the entertainment industry as an actress. She graduated from Rollins College with a BA in English and a minor in Film Studies. Stephanie previously worked with Screen Actors Guild agency which shaped her eye for talent in the industry. She has booked for various feature films and TV shows such as CW, NBC, & UPN as well as specials for food network and the History Channel.

 

Another instructor that represents The Maile School is Shellita Boxie. Shellita is an industry vet and her previous credentials include commercial work for Disney, Publix and Universal. Shellita’s work doesn’t just stop with TV Commercials. She also has played a feature role in the popular soap The Young and the Restless as well as Marvel Captain America Civil War, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 and Part 2 and AMC’s The Walking Dead. Shellita has also playing stunt double roles for Tyler Perry’s Madea’s Big happy family and Janet Jackson in why did I get married two.
Jim Braswell has over 25 years of experience in the entertainment industry. He was a Judge at Disney’s American Idol Experience for 5 ½ years. Jim has performed on staged from Tinseltown to O-Town. He was last seen on the silver screen in the critically acclaimed Footprints. Jim’s TV and commercial credits include Publix, Taina, Nip Tuck, Numbers & the NBC soap, Passions. His stage credits range from Angels in America to Godspell. Jim received Critics Choice Award for Best Male Performance at The Fringe Festival for Thomas Jefferson: My Master, My Slave, My Friend

 

Last but not least, Lance Smith who is most widely known as the voice of CMT. As a Nashville native, Smith spent nearly a decade hosting a variety of programs for Country Music Television, most notably CMT’s Top 20 Countdown where he often interviewed many of today’s biggest stars. During this time on the MTV Network he found himself acting on the big screen in comedies like Larry the Canble Guy health inspector and delta farce. Continuing his television hosting career, Lance hosted season one of the Weather Channel’s Weathering Disaster before landing at the anchor desk of the morning infotainment show The Daily Buzz. Lance also is the voice of the Tennessee Titans during NFL Football Season.

Maile School Star Talent: Tyler Gary

      Maile School Star Talent: Tyler Gary

Maile School’s Professional Modeling and Adult Acting graduate Tyler Gary is represented by CMG Models and Talent, CFT Agency and Talent Pool Agency. He is 22 years old and is from Fort Pierce, FL and now lives in Orlando. He attended classes here at The Maile Image, Modeling & Acting School to break into the industry and become a working actor and model.

Tyler landed work for big time director Tim Burton playing a smart aid worker in the film called Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children. He also landed industry work for clients such as Embry Riddle University, Animal Planet, Daytona 500 and the Discovery network. Tyler also booked work in Netflix series titled Trailer Park Boys starring Mike Smith, Robb Wells and John Paul Tremblay.

He is still working on booking a print spread for a major magazine this year. This is something that he really wants to accomplish. Tyler says “I have always wanted to be in a campaign ad for a major magazine, that’s my main goal. I want this to be my life long career.  I love the competition in this industry and I think about my family all the time when I’m at an audition or when I have booked something.  I love it and The Maile School.”

Tyler was a model student here at The Maile School. He attended every class, always came on time and was proactive in each session. We wanted the best for him and he followed our guidance and went out and did it. Now he is on his way!

We wish Tyler more industry success and look forward to hearing more good news from this talented actor and model. Keep up the great work!

Tanya Kaye Lewis

Maile School Modeling grad Tanya Kaye Lewis grew up in Wisconsin in a small town named, LaValle. Tanya dreamt of taking acting and modeling classes and being in the business.

She graduated from Bethany Lutheran College in Mankato, MN, with an Associates Degree in Liberal Arts and Hope College in Holland, MI, with 3 Degrees in Psychology, Communication, and Dance.  While attending Hope College, Tanya was recruited to attend the Disney College Program.  After College Graduation and completing 2 Disney Internships, she joined Disney Entertainment.  She performed in parades and shows such as Main Street Electrical Parade, Disney’s Magical Moments Parade, SpectroMagic, Magic Kingdom’s Trolley Welcome Show and Parade, Share a Dream Come True Parade, and Seasonal Parades. In addition to airing on ABC for 3 years in The Disney Parks Christmas Day ParadeMickey’s Very Merry Christmas Parade.”  While Cast at the Magic Kingdom, Tanya was also a member of the 2004 Traditions Team at the Disney University.

Inspired by her grandmother, Tayna followed a similar path of teaching in Special Education Dance. She became a dancing instructor for the Creative Dance Expressions’ Programs.  Tanya has created the perfect marriage of Talent and Dance for Students with Special Needs.

Some of her industry work include includes Trailer Park Boys: Out of the Park (USA),  NASCAR SAG, Orlando Science Center, Club Wyndham, Surface Hair, Macy’s and Mall at Millenia to name a few.

Tanya says, “What an HONOR taking Acting and Modeling classes at The Maile School. As they provide lifelong tools for personal growth and the continued development of craft skills! I am so THANKFUL.”

Tanya is SAG Eligible and says she is honored for each audition and booking experience.  Tanya is excited to continue meeting and working  with fellow Talent and Industry Creators and Leaders on future Talent Projects!

Maile School Grad Brandon Larracuente plays the role of Jeff Atkins on the popular Netflix series 13 Reasons Why.

series 13 Reasons Why has quickly become the most popular show in the streaming service’s history after just three weeks of its release.
The show has received quite a bit of attention along with our Maile School Graduate, Brandon Larracuente, who plays Jeff Atkins in the Netflix Original. With his recent debut on Access Hollywood, Brandon has reached the hearts of his fans showing his true personality which doesn’t seem far off from the one portrayed in 13 reasons why.

Brandon’s alias, Atkins, is in a series of flashback episodes as an extremely kind and genuine person who was not afraid to speak up and is always looking out for his friends.

Brandon Larracuente was born in New York. At the age of 4, he was introduced to theatre where he played the part in two operas at the New Rochelle Opera House. Brandon began his acting career at the age of 8, where he starred in an Off Broadway show called “Desire“. Upon moving to Florida, he enrolled here at The Maile School in the Acting Program. Brandon ended up starring in local theatre production “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” and “It’s a Wonderful Life“.

Brandon made his first television appearance in 2011, in a documentary series called “Got Home Alive.” In 2013, he also appeared in an episode of A&E’s hit series, ” The Glades “(2013), along with Nickelodeon’s popular show, ” Every Witch Way “ (2014) and NBC’s series, Constantine (2014) as well as an recurring appearances as Ben Rayburn in Netflix’s Original Series, Bloodline (2015). Other credits include Max Steel (2016), Rings (2017), Baywatch (2017), and Bright (2017) to name a few.

 

Brandon Larracuente is a Maile School Star Graduate of the acting program.

Maile Star Graduate: Jenny Rosario de Casiano

Jenny Rosario de Casiano

Jenny Rosario was born and raised in the Bronx, New York by a single mom who was a stylist.  Her mom eventually married a Magician and together they traveled and worked internationally.  Jenny’s parents inspired her creativity. She began her career in film production and graduated from Valencia College with a degree in Film Production Technology. Jenny worked behind the scenes in production for ten years. She owned and operated a small production company, Rmarcfilms and began her career as a set P.A. and moved on to other positions such as make-up, wardrobe and the art department.  She then fell into writing, producing and directing for a T.V. Network in Miami for several years.

She was originally discovered by the Ms. Latina USA beauty pageant system and began bringing home pageant titles such as Ms. Latina Florida, Ms. Latina International and most recently, Ms. International World. Jenny was recruited to hosting on stage and acting in front of the camera so she started taking acting classes in college and here at The Maile School.

After a life-altering car accident, which led Jenny to spending a year in a wheel chair and a year and a half on walking devices, having to learn how to walk again, she took a break from production and focused on healing and studying.

Once Jenny regained her strength she re-entered the entertainment scene and began doing commercial and print work both in Central Florida and internationally.  Some of her work includes Princess Carnival Cruises, a cover and centerfold of BLVD Sarasota Magazine, on location reporting for Florida National News. Commercials for Taco John’s, Fresh From Florida Blueberries, Unison Sleep Aid, New You med Spa and in the upcoming Independent Film, No Place in this World, to name a few. Jenny’s goal is to continue with her commercial acting career and to further develop her film and television career.
