AUSTIN OLIVARES

MAILE SCHOOL STAR GRAD:
AUSTIN OLIVARES

Maile School acting, advanced acting and modeling grad Austin Olivares began classes The Maile School in February of 2018. But before attending Maile he was a swimmer at Lindenwood University and aspired to compete for the Puerto Rican swim team at the Olympics. However, after being hospitalized his senior year of college, he decided that it was time to walk away and put his energy into a lifelong dream of acting.

Austin said, “I had absolutely no idea as to how I could start chasing my dream. I had zero experience in this industry but I was in great hands with The Maile School. I learned everything that I needed to know about this industry and how to begin my career there. I learned how to audition on camera for commercials, for films, and even for print modeling. I also learned how to spot scams and find legitimate agencies in the area, as well as how to approach them. My amazing teachers Stephanie Bowen, Shellita Boxie, and Jim Braswell all taught me valuable lessons that have helped me build my career.  I would not be where I am today without their guidance and insight and find them to be not only amazing teachers but amazing role models as well.”

Over the course of 9 months Austin booked commercial work for clients such as Disney, Universal Studios, and Publix.  He also modeled for Macys and booked film work with the majority being lead role. One of the projects, he worked on was Mission Ouroboros, this has won 2 awards at the Los Angeles Short Awards Festival and is also an official selection for the Berlin Flash Film Festival as well
as the Miami Independent Film Festival.

This past October Austin made the move to Atlanta, GA. Since he’s been there he has been featured in many projects such as The CW’s Dynasty, Marlon Wayan’s Sextuplets, and Samuel Jackson’s The Banker. He was even able to do stand in work for characters on The Walking Dead.

Austin said, “My goal is to start auditioning for speaking roles come early 2019 after signing with an agent. A huge thank you to The Maile School for getting me on the path to start chasing my dream. I truly wouldn’t be where I am without the time and guidance of everyone there.”

Way to go Austin. Best of luck in 2019.
