Maile Star Grad: Josie Pantoja

Maile Star Grad: Josie Pantoja

At the age of two, Josie grabbed an open mic during a family birthday party and put on a show! This 12-year-old triple threat has been singing, acting, and dancing ever since.

Josie keeps a busy schedule, balancing Honor Roll academics while singing at local festivals, such as, The Kids and Family Expo, The Back to School Music Festival and she will be performing in November at The Festival of Trees as well as other venues throughout the year. In addition she performs in two theater performances a year, whilst also taking acting, voice and dance classes.

Josie’s love for performing has rewarded her with a trip to California to represent Team USA at the World Championship of Performing Arts, an upcoming trip to Atlanta to sing at The Child Model Magazine Summer Fashion Parade, an appearance in an Universal Studios commercial, an acting role in the soon to be released anti-bullying film “AMRAK” (which will be shown at The Urban Film Festival at Universal Studios this November), and the opportunity to participate in classes and workshops at the Maile Studio due to her winning Maile School annual Talent Show!

Josie chose to be homeschooled this year to pursue auditions and other opportunities. This choice has already proven to be worthwhile, as she has been selected for a key role at the Orlando Repertory Theater’s musical performance of “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever”.

Marisol, Josies mom says, “Thank you to Maile’s for the acting classes and workshops Josie has attended. They have helped Josie build confidence and improve her ability to express herself in her day-to-day life. Maile’s has taught her to believe in her talent and that she can do anything she puts her mind to!”

You can see Josie’s music videos and performance clips by subscribing to her YouTube Channel and following her on Instagram @josiepantoja_music or @josie_pantoja

Also to see Josie in action come to Macys in the Seminole Towne Center Mall this Saturday as she will open up The Maile School fall fashion show at 1pm.

Maile School’s Star Talent: Justin Smith

Maile School’s Star Talent: Justin Smith
in the theater production of FLYING

Congrats to the Maile School acting grad Justin Smith. He landed a role in the theater production of Flying. Justin plays Sergeant Rory Fisher, a wounded WWll soldier, who finds himself challenged beyond his physical disabilities to try and find his way in making sense of a post war America.

Sheila Cowley’s play explores the lives of women flyers in the aftermath of World War II. Susan flew militant planes during the war, so men could go fight. Now she’s home, trying to get back to civilian life. Meanwhile, the town waits for her local hero husband to return.  As the town tells glory tales of Bob, Susan tries to put away her memories of flying. She uses Bob’s legend to keep his family airfield going. That way when Fisher, his wounded gunner, shows up looking for a job she’s forced to hire him. As the play progresses, the stories the town tells reveal Susan through what they leave out. Drawn from oral histories and memories of women who served in the WASP program in WWII, Flying explores the aftermath of war and the quiet, daily acts of heroism that never earn a real medal.
Flying runs SEPTEMBER 21 – OCTOBER 7, 2017. You can purchase Tickets Here.

Some of Justin’s resume work includes the Bruce Willis Die Hard movies in “A Good Day to Die Hard” (2013), co-starred alongside Shia LaBeouf in Dito Montiel’s war drama “Man Down” (2015), the CW’s hit show “Vampire Dairies” and can be seen in the Netflix drama “Ozark” (2017), opposite Laura Linney.

This is the first role Justin has received since attending and graduating from The Maile School last year.  He had such a great time with the cast, filming at the new Viacom Studios in Miami. This was the first series to be shot in the new state of the art Viacom International Studios in Miami.

Justin’s mom Nanette says, “His favorite thing at the Maile School was doing improv… this inspired him to attend a two-week Improv summer camp at Second City in Chicago last summer. His goal is to attend and receive a degree in Comedic Studies at Columbia College in Chicago as they have a direct class connection with Second City and then move on to Saturday Night Live.”

Justin has taught himself how to play the guitar, ukulele and the keyboards and this is where you will find him when he is not busy filming, auditioning, doing school work or watching Jimmy Fallon!

Justin says “The Maile School is a place where you can be yourself while also being in the company of the most helpful and kind people on the planet. They know the industry and are more than willing to go the extra mile to get you started.”

Maile School Top Model:
Victoria Schnock

Good things are happening for Maile School Modeling grad Victoria Schnock.

Last month this beauty, Victoria walked in the Greensboro preview fashion show. She walked for two designers in The Face fashion show and will be featured in the September issue.  She was chosen for a spread as well.  Victoria was one of three girls picked and the only one for the layout. She also walked the runway in a charity show for a NC designer. Victoria’s agency is 3BlackBird Management out of Mooresville NC. The website is 3BBM.com.

The month of August was busy for her as well as she auditioned in New York City, Greensboro, and Charleston fashion weeks.  Her mother agent has packets ready to take to NYC and present her to some agencies up there. Victoria also landed print work for the Saint Augustine “Old Town Magazine”.

Mom Susan says, “What I wanted you to know is that Victoria would not be where she is today without The Maile School”.

We wish Victoria luck because next week Victoria leaves for New York Fashion Week and be walking for one designer as of now but has several appointments for castings for other shows.

In the spring, Victoria will be back in NYC for the Spring show. Then off to Rome for 10 days right after.
